“AYATEN TI BUKOD TAYO NGA ARAMID”Kannawidan Yloco Festival is a festival for all Ilocano’s wherever they came from. This is annually celebrated here in Ilocos Sur. It only takes a week but if we will be a part of every activity we will surely enjoy it.
The feast is started by a Holy Mass at the Vigan Cathedral.There are so many attractions done during the Kannawidan Festival. The display includes the sale of different handicraft made from the indigenous material can easily found in the province, sale of the different OTOP (one town one product) of the different towns here in ILocos Sur.Native dances of the upland towns also shown in the plaza salcedo.
Clothing and vehicles, various native arts designs and other native products and some ancestral houses at the heritage village and antique clothing and vehicles are also being showcased.There is also a Fashion show featuring the abel Iloco .
The festival includes the possession of the0 images of miraculous patron saints coming from different towns at cities here in Ilocos Sur .The highlight of the Festival are painting design contest ,Delphic Games ,Fun Run ,Miss Saniata Beauty Pageant,Sarsuela and other contest.
On the other hand, all the highlights of the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival were focused on the presentations and exhibitions of the attractive indigenous and old traditions, cultures and costumes of the Ilocanos.
The Festival started in 2008 to mark the 190th anniversary foundation day of Ylocos Sur through a Royal Decree approved on Feb. 2, 1818.
“Thus, this year’s Festival: we are now celebrating the 194th anniversary foundation of Ilocos Sur,”
